Albert Joseph Turner, 84 of age, of Kerrville, TX passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Kerrville, TX. He was born on March 28, 1933 in Boston, MA to George Allen and Ethel Elizabeth Turner. He married Maria Emma Garcia on September 11, 1953 in Chicago, IL.\r\n \r\nHe grew up and went to school in Pembroke, MA. He joined the Marines in 1950, switched to the Navy, then finally switched to the Air Force where he had a 20-year long career, retiring as a Master Sergeant. In the Air Force he started as a flight mechanic on fighter and bomber aircraft. He then became a flight engineer on the C-124 Globemaster, also known as "Old Shaky". During his career he was stationed at a number of bases in the following locations: San Antonio, TX; Wichita Falls, TX; Laredo, TX; Greenville, MS; Bourne, MA; Bitburg, Germany; Witchita, KS; Greenville, SC; Tacoma, WA; and San Antonio, TX. He retired from the Air Force in 1970 and moved back to Tacoma, WA where he worked for L B Foster Company marketing heavy construction equipment. He and his wife moved to Ingram, TX in 1994 where they lived until they moved to Kerrville in 2017. Albert volunteered at the Kerrville VA Hospital for 20 years helping to transport patients around the hospital. \r\n \r\nAlbert was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, George Allen (Sonny) Turner and Robert Turner. \r\n \r\nAlbert is survived by his wife, Maria Emma Turner (Kerrville, TX); Children: Patrick Turner (Kirkland, WA); Ricardo Turner and wife, Debra (Papillion, NE); George Turner (Puyallup, WA); Anna Maria Zering and husband Joseph (Puyallup, WA); and Robert Turner and wife Christine (Tacoma, WA). Grandchildren: Paul Turner, Samantha Turner, Charlotte Linderman, Adam Turner, Eric Turner, Jessica Zering, Natalie Zering, Bethany Zering, Josiah Zering, Jeremiah Zering, Ryan Turner, Coleen Turner, Andrew Turner, Matthew Turner, Grace Turner, Mary Claire Turner, Caroline Turner, Sarah Henrichs, Ian Norris, and Sydney Norris; and 9 Great Grandchildren.\r\n \r\nVisitation will be from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville, TX. \r\n \r\nFuneral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, TX with Reverend David Wagner officiating. Burial (for immediate family) will be at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at a later date. \r\n \r\nMemorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Kerrville VA Hospital; Our Lady of the Hills High School in Kerrville, TX; Rafael Clinic in Kerrville, TX; and/or Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville, TX. The family wishes to extend our sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Shimatsu and the wonderful staff of the Eagle's Landing Wing at the VA Hospital in Kerrville, TX.\r\n
