Alexa Olivia Vara passed away peacefully and suddenly at her home in Huntsville, TX on December 19, 2023. Alexa was born on June 19, 2002 in San Antonio, TX. She would have received her degree in Criminal Justice this coming May from Sam Houston State University. She took her studies seriously and excelled academically. Alexa was working for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at the time of her passing and was looking forward to future opportunities in the field. Although she stayed busy with a full time job and college studies she enjoyed spending time with her friends and boyfriend during her free time. She loved to snow ski and was a natural at it. She was a talented artist and enjoyed crafts of all sorts. Alexa attended Bandera High School where she learned to play the saxophone in band. She later taught herself to play the piano. She was a lover of all music and enjoyed going to concerts. She loved animals especially dogs. Alexa loved to try new foods and enjoyed baking. She was a collector of many things, and loved her plant collection. Alexa is preceded in death by her grandmother, Susan “Shugie” McCracken, with whom she was very close; grandfather, Robert “Pop Pop” Marietta; great grandmother, Ellen Jane McCarley; and her favorite dog, Murphy. Alexa is survived by her mother, Cresta Marietta; step father, Chad Marietta; brother, Vance Marietta; great grandmother, Billye Jean McCracken; grandfather, Rick McCracken (Terri); aunt, Amanda McCracken. Her grandmother, Deanna Marietta; uncle, Rob Marietta (Brooke); cousins, Cristian, Sadie and Kadie Marietta, Father, Jose Vara (Elizabeth); siblings, Giselle, Dominic, Luka and Vivienne Vara; grandfather, Jose J Vara; grandmother, Esther Firova (Daniel); uncles, Daniel Firova Jr. (Lizette); Ismael Firova & Joe Andre Firova; aunt, Chanel Sharp (Peter); cousins, Peter Liam and Zoila Sharp.
