Charles Heinen

May 6, 1941 — November 25, 2020

Charles Chester Heinen passed away peacefully on November 25, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born to Chester Paul Heinen and Veta Marie Culpepper Heinen in Comfort, TX on May 6, 1941. He attended school in Comfort, later graduating high school from Center Point in 1959. He attended Schreiner College in Kerrville, worked at Mooney Aircraft Co. and then attended auctioneering school in Bryan, TX. He enjoyed volunteering his auctioneering skills on numerous occasions to help support local area charities. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by his wife Kathryn Heinen; daughter Debbie Juern and husband Neal of Bulverde; daughter Kelly Matte and husband Gregg of Houston; and his sister Ann Marie Cole of College Station. He had four dearly loved grandchildren who called him by the name, "Paw Paw," including Holly Juern Shaw and husband Luke, Landon Juern, Greyson Matte, and Valerie Matte. \r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Julie Mitchell Heinen, who he lovingly cared for during her final months of battling cancer, and his parents, Chester Paul Heinen and Veta Marie Culpepper Heinen. \r\n\r\nCharles was a lifelong farmer and rancher, living and working on the same land as his father and grandfather before him. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, taking care of his horses, team roping competitions as a heeler, and managing the white tail and Axis deer for hunting on his land. \r\n\r\nHis family is extremely grateful for the tireless help from caregivers at the Trinity Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Comfort, and Hill Country Memorial Hospice of Fredericksburg. \r\n\r\nA public grave-side service will be held for Charles at the Comfort Cemetery on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at 11:00 am. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be given in his memory to the Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the ministry of His Hill Torchbearers at P.O. Box 9, Comfort, TX 78013. His time at Trinity Mission was brightened weekly by a group of His Hill students who came to play guitar, sing songs to the Lord, and visit with him.\r\n
