Dan L Cox, 74, of Edna, Texas, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Edna, Texas. He was born in Charleston, Illinois to Raymond and Edna Cox on November 11, 1950. He married Carol Leland on September 26, 1987, at Mission Bend United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas. He went to school at Charleston High School class of 1968. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University in December 1972. He worked as an Insurance Underwriter for several companies across our nation. He was well respected in the Medical Self-Insurance Community. He started his own company, National Underwriting Services, Inc. in Houston in 1985. NUS, Inc. moved to Helotes, Texas in 1990. In 1997 he purchased Barrel House Feed & Hardware in Pipe Creek, Texas. He served in the Army National Guard December 1971- March 1979 obtaining the rank of Sgt. E5. He attended First Christian Church in Charleston, Illinois. He later found the United Methodist Church in Texas. He attended Mission Bend UMC, Lakehills UMC, Boerne UMC, and FUMC Edna. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edna Cox and a son, Benjamin Aaron Cox. Survivors include his wife: Carol Leland Cox, his children: Amy Cox, JD Cox (Elena), and Leanne Marquez (Luis) his brother: Ron Cox (Dee), his grandchildren: Bella Quintana, Gabe Quintana, Alorah Quintana, Evelyn Quintana, Ofelia Marquez, and Teagan Marquez, and his great-granddaughter: Freya Quintana. His extended family in Charleston, Illinois instilled in him a love for cattle and the land. This passion led him to the grasslands of Jackson County where he purchased a cattle ranch in La Ward, Texas.

At Dan's request, no funeral services will be held. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church Edna.
