David William Mechler Jr

David William Mechler Jr., 77, of Medina, Texas, passed away on August 23rd, 2023, in Kerrville, Texas.

He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 29th, 1945. He married Jean Annette Helton on March 11, 1972, in Humble, Texas.

Dave was the oldest of 8 children of Dorothy and David Mechler. He graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a degree in accounting. He worked as a CPA and entrepreneur for almost 30 years, where he made many enduring friendships that he treasured throughout his life.  Growing up as part of the Boy Scouts led to a love of the outdoors. He was happiest when spending time with his family at his beloved hill country home or visiting his home away from home in Port Aransas.

He was preceded in death by his father David Mechler Sr., Mother Dorothy Mechler, and his sister Diane Morris. 

David leaves behind his wife Annette and two children Jenny Thornell and Denise Massey. Grandchildren include Anna Thornell, William Thornell, Kate Thornell, Grace Massey, and Samantha Massey.

Visitation will be held at Grimes Bandera Funeral Chapel on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Medina Community Church, officiated by Pastor Bill Stegemueller. Burial will follow at Oakrest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please send any donation in memory of David Mechler to the Medina Volunteer Fire Department or Medina Community Library.
