With profound sadness our family announces the passing of our mother, Doris Fullington, who departed this world peacefully on June 28th, 2025. Even at the age of 85, Doris's radiant presence in our lives, and the lives of those who knew her. She created a circle of warmth and generosity because of her remarkable ability to bring joy to any gathering.
Doris was born in Saint Bernard's hospital in Cook County, Chicago IL. She dedicated her life to her family and the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Leslie Barker and Myrtle Riley, her husband David Albert Fullington, brother Ricky Barker, and daughter Susan Stinson Canady.
Doris survived by her brother Robert Barker (Mona Barker), and sisters Shirley Will, Sandy Rogers and Cindy Harmon (Todd Harmon). Doris was a loving mother and is also survived by her son Robert Dean Stinson (Amy Stinson), her daughter Debbie Lyn Johnson (William Johnson), and Sheryl Gay Trevino (David Trevino), stepchildren, Julie Moser, and Jeff Fullington. She treasured being a grandmother and loved to share her wisdom and shower affection on her grandchildren, Kristi Johnson Haygood, Megan Canady, William Johnson, Kyle Stinson, Shannon Stinson Miller, Isaac Trevino, Elysia Trevino, Henry Schmidt, Brooke Fullington Hayes, Stacey Fullington Phillips, Cody Maklin, and 13 great grandchildren.
Doris had a passion for gardening, cooking, and charity work which she shared with friends and family alike. Her home rang with laughter, the scent of delicious meals and a warmth that welcomed everybody who entered. She was also known for her volunteer work at church and with the Order of the Eastern Star. She dedicated countless hours helping others and making huge differences in her community.
A celebration of Doris Fullington’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. Once the date and time is confirmed, we invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bandera OES Chapter #643, c/o: Carol Dungan, 280 Red Bird Loop, Center Point, TX 78010.
Though Doris is no longer with us, her legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will live on and will inspire all of us who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
