Dorothy Maxine Gilpin, 93 years old of Bandera, Texas passed away on July 31, 2025, at home in the presence of Jesus and her children and grandchildren. She was born in Garden City, Kansas to Mable Mildred Dunham and James Edward Brown on January 13, 1932.
She married Robert Lee Gilpin, Sr. on October 22, 1953, at the Central Church of the Nazarene, Alburquerque, New Mexico.
She went to Bethany Nazarene College. She worked as a nurse/doctor’s assistant. She was a licensed Preacher in the Church of the Nazarene; her spirit and practice were the gospel of Christ. Her teaching corresponds with the established Doctrines of the Holy Scriptures as held by the Church of Nazarene issued by Ernest Armstrong.
She was a pastor’s wife who served the Lord alongside her husband Rev. Robert Gilpin for 40 years. She had special training at Bethany Nazarene College. The training taught her how to be a good pastor’s wife. All who knew her knew a good friendship and she was a Christ like example. She believes in the Power of Prayer and was an awesome prayer warrior. She loved the ocean and all its beauty. Dorothy loved adventures with her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling and was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
Dorothy enjoyed photography with her 35-millimeter cameras. She had one of the first home video cameras leaving the family with many treasures, pictures and videos that date back to the 60’s. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and taking photos of them. Her grandchildren were very important to her, and she loved each one and always made time to make each one feel special. She loved to sing the beautiful hymns at church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Sharon Starr Dolan Gilpin and son Leland Roy Gilpin. Her grandchildren are Chelsey Dolan (Jeremy New), Samantha Dolan (Gus Verraire), Reagan Dolan, Marissa Poetzl (Daniel), Mandy Gilpin, Gabriel Gilpin. Great grandchildren Kobe Box, Jordan Box, Makenly Thacker, Tyler Thacker, Natalie Corsini, Josiah Corsini, Eden Poetzl. Great-great grandchildren; Delana Box and Elleigh Box.
She is preceded in death by her mother Mable Mildred Dunham and father James Edward Brown. Her husband Robert Lee Gilpin and son Robert Lee Gilpin II. Her sisters; Leatha Bowen Brown, Arlene Dennis Brown, Lucille Roberts Brown, brothers; Everett Brown and James Brown. Many God-fearing aunts and uncles are waiting on her in heaven.

Burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery.
