Douglas Clifton Wistner, 28, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, at his home in Austin, Texas. Born July 12, 1986, in Houston, Texas, Doug was an athlete, a scholar, a brother, a son and a friend to many. He is survived by his parents, Kathy and Granger MacDonald of Kerrville, Texas, and Clifton and Pam Wistner of Kansas City, Missouri; sisters Sarah (Ben) Johnson and Christine (Owen) Parker of Houston, Texas; stepbrother Justin MacDonald of Kerrville, Texas; nephews Brooks and Finnegan Parker of Houston, Texas; and his dog, Butters.\r\n \r\nDoug graduated from Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, after which he earned his Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at Austin. While at Texas, Doug was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He then pursued graduate studies at Boston University, where he earned his Master of Public Health. Upon completing his studies, Doug first worked as a financial analyst in Boston and then as a health care consultant in Boston and then Austin.\r\n \r\nA celebration of Doug's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at 320 Saint Peter Street in Kerrville, Texas. A reception will immediately follow at Tucker Hall, located across from the church.\r\n \r\nIn lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to the Austin Humane Society, 124 West Anderson Lane, Austin, Texas 78752, (512) 685-0119, https://community.austinhumanesociety.org or to the charity of your choice.\r\n \r\n[contact-form-7 id="73" title="Send Condolences"]\r\n
