Edith Pearl Heinen (Stewart), 78, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on May 5, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on March 20, 1947, in Bandera, Texas, to Frank H. and Hazel (Jones) Heinen.
Edith worked as a waitress, cook, cleaner, and housekeeper. She enjoyed her Dr Pepper, coffee, and extra-sweet tea. She loved plants, either potted or in her garden, and had a special fondness for chickens and recently adopted 2 stray barn cats. She would never let the strays go hungry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel Heinen; her brothers Henry Heinen, Bobby Heinen, Billy Heinen, and Claude Heinen. Also preceding her were her daughter, Carrie Gillaspy (Stewart); grandson, Nathan Gillaspy; and husbands James Gillaspy and Butch Stewart.
Edith is survived by her sisters Eva Lou Herbert and Joan Cary; son, Brian Gillaspy; daughter, Sheri Stewart; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind many dear friends, including Bob Foley, Mrs. Mansfield, and Glen McComb.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Bandera Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bob Devora officiating. A reception will be held at Shepherd’s Gate Church, 615 Polly Peak Dr., following the service.
