Obituary

Elmer Lee Lenz Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Bandera, Texas on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born on September 26, 1937, in Floresville, Texas, to Elmer Fritz and Lillie Louise Lenz. He married the love of his life, Maxie Lee Davis-Edge of Boerne, Texas on August 6, 1976.

He graduated from Sam Houston High School in San Antonio in 1955. He managed several Piggly Wiggly and Winn’s stores throughout San Antonio. While living in San Antonio, Maxine and Elmer opened Maxine’s Plants in Bandera, Texas. A local business they owned and operated together for 30 years. Soon after the opening of Maxine’s Plants, the family left San Antonio and made Bandera, Texas their forever home. Alongside the family business, he managed the Family Dollar store in Bandera for 25 years until his retirement in 2018.

Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine, sister, Mary Rauschuber and daughter Rochelle.

Elmer is survived by his daughters Dusti Lee Christiana and husband Michael, Terrilea Warden and husband Bobby Joe, II and Kathy Lenz; son Johnnie Alois Haas, II and wife Lorene Elizabeth Semmes; sisters, Betty Haverly and her husband, Gary, of Seguin; Rosie Pittman of San Antonio; and Debra Hafner of La Vernia; and brother Alton Lenz and his wife, Judy, of San Antonio; grandchildren Blake Austin Christiana, Alexzandria Leigh-Anne Schriber, Krystinlea Nettie Lloyd, Brittany Anne Warden, Chloe Nicole Haas, Alithia Santos, Janelle Sanchez, Nathan Ray and Rebecca Stueckle; 5 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Three Oaks Hospice, especially his caring nurse, Jo Ann Vega, and those that were so kind and supportive during this difficult time.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Edge Cemetery near Kendalia, Texas with Rev. Doyle Dunn officiating.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bandera Funeral Chapel.
