Eugene Jesse Snell

Eugene Jesse Snell (Gene), 89 years of Medina, TX. Passed away on March 10, 2026 at his home in Medina surrounded by his family. He was born in Romayor, TX to E. B. & Nadine Snell on February 10, 1937. He married Joyce Elaine Hubble on February 25, 1978, in Kerrville, Tx.

He graduated from high school worked many jobs but was most remembered for working as a lineman at Kerrville Telephone Company where he worked and retired after 25 years.

He volunteered with several organizations over the years. He served and delivered Meals on Wheels, helped maintain the West Prong Cemetery in Medina. Gene was an avid fisherman, he and his wife Elaine enjoyed going on numerous fishing trips together. After retiring he and his wife loved to travel in their RV.

Gene is preceded in death by his father E. B. Snell and Nadine Wootton. His sister Frances Simon and brother Roland Snell. His stepfather Louie Wootton who he looked up to and loved.

Survivors are wife Joyce Elaine Snell, and his daughters Patty (Rick) Crick, Tammi (Allen) Clark, Gena (Cody) Ahrens and Marie Phillips. His sister Kathryn Smith and brother Wayne Wootton. He had seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, at West Prong Cemetery in Medina, Texas. Officiating the service is his son in laws Pastor Rick Crick and Pastor Allen Clark. Following the service, all are invited to a celebration of life at Medina Community Church (263 Reed Ave).
