Everette Boyce

Everette Elmo Boyce passed peacefully in his sleep at home December 1, 2021.  He was born September 21, 1928 at home in Utopia to Everette M Boyce and Ruth Haby Boyce.  Everette married Katherine Wachter in Uvalde, Tx on September 10, 1948.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers LM Boyce and Ralph F Boyce of Utopia, brother in law Charles Wachter of San Antonio, and grandson Jonathan Masin.  There are 3 surviving children Everette E Boyce, Jr and spouse Rebecca Cunningham Boyce of Bandera, Cathy Boyce Olsen and spouse of New Braunfels, and Suzy Boyce Sims and spouse William Sims of Utopia.  He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Everette grew up in Utopia, graduating Salutatorian of his class.  He farmed, had his own garage/gas station, real estate brokerage, and insurance agency.  He had the first vineyard in the Sabinal Canyon.  Everette enjoyed a close knit community of friends who raised their many children together. Hunting, fishing, camping trips left lovely memories and tall tales.  Everette and Katherine enjoyed traveling the US and beyond.  He was also an avid dominoes player

Everette was the first Fire Chief and founding member of the Utopia Volunteer Fire Dept.  He joined the local Lions Club in 1950 winning many awards for his contributions including the Melvin B Jones award.  One of his biggest projects was forming the Utopia Water Supply Corp bringing a community water system to Utopia.  He was a life time Honorary Director after serving 20 years as President.  He was the Charter Representative for Pack 3285/Troop 283 of Boy Scouts. A lifetime Master Mason. Founding member of the Utopia Golf Course and Club. Everette was a strong supporter of Utopia Little League, the Utopia Rodeo.  He had a strong hand shake and encouraging word for everyone he met.  He gave the best hugs.  Everette was a genuinely caring loving man who lived his Christian Faith every day. He was a lifetime member of the Utopia United Methodist Church. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Jones Cemetery in Utopia, Texas.
