James Dennis Duff Jr., 87, passed away at his home in the early hours of December 4, 2025. He was diagnosed with prostate and bone cancer. The last month of his life he was on Hospice Care. James was born in Tarpley, Texas on November 26, 1938, to his parents James Dennis Duff Sr. and Clara Lenora Dugosh. He married Margaret E. Adamietz on April 12, 1969, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera, Texas.

James went to school in Bandera and was the Class of 1957. He kept his classmates informed and held some of the best class reunions around. He was a Veteran and served in the Army. He worked at the Conoco gas station. James worked at Conoco’s Purple Sage Ranch for 27 years. He had a post hole digging and shredding business. He also worked pony parties. In the early years he’d advertise for businesses with his buggy or wagon. James took his kids to participate in many rodeos and the family to dances. He loved his family, friends, animals, music and dancing. He built a two seated buggy, could weld, build and he could fix anything. James had many songs by his friends on reel-to-reel. He talked local and skip on the CB.

James was past President of the Woodmen Life Chapter 1094 of Bandera. He was a long-time member of the Cowboy Capitol Trail Ride. Decendants of the Original Polish families, James and Margaret represented Bandera County on the 1986 Sesquicentennial Texas Wagon Train driving over 200 miles. The whole family drove 75 of those miles together. He carried the County flag in the Bandera Color Guard for years in the parades. He worked hard and always helped everyone.

James was preceded in death by his sister, Lenora, his parents Dennis and Clara (Dugosh), his sister Bettie Peters and nephew Brian Peters.
