James Green, 95, of Bandera, Texas, passed from this earth on October 9, 2025, while living in the home he shared with his beloved wife, Ernestine.
James was born in Watsonville, California, to Oliver and Thelma Green on June 16, 1930. He married Ernestine Rawlins on July 15, 1950, in Visalia, California, and together they shared 75 wonderful years of marriage.
James graduated from Visalia High School in Visalia, California, where he was involved in many sports during his school years. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and numerous other medals and honors.
After his time in the military, James worked for Union Oil of California, retiring after 38 years of service. Upon retirement, he and Ernestine began serving as Sojourners, traveling across the United States to assist Churches of Christ with growth — both physically and spiritually. They loved this work and devoted 20 years to serving the Lord in this way.
James is survived by his loving wife, Ernestine; his children — son Fred (Debbie), daughters Joni and Cathi (Greg Madrigal); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Stringtown Road Church of Christ in Medina, Texas, with Bro. Robert Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina, Texas.
