James Edwin Keith, 93, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in Camp Verde, Texas. He was born on November 10, 1931, in Kerrville, Texas, to Edwin Hampton Keith and Addie Walls Keith.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mamie Stevens Keith; sons Kelley Keith, Jonathan (Bonita) Keith, and Christian (Kelly) Keith; grandsons Grayson, Conley, Will, and Aaron; brother-in-law Chester Stevens; sister-in-law Marianne (Carlos) Leos; niece Susan (Jim) Marshall; and nephews Rob Lange, Matt (Mei) Leos, Brian (Kathy) and Mark Stevens, Greg (Brenda) Stevens, and Clint Stevens.
James graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville, Tx in 1950 and attended Schreiner College until he was drafted into the Army, serving during the Korean War. His hobbies included woodworking, cooking, and playing music in several bands over the years.
James and his wife Mamie owned the Camp Verde Store during the 1960s and 1970s, where he also served as the postmaster. After selling the Camp Verde Store, he bought an interest in the Bolero Drive-in Theatre in Kerrville, taking on various roles including running the film projector during showings. After selling the interest in the Bolero Drive-in, he worked at the Kerrville State Hospital as a rehabilitation therapist until retiring in 1996.
He spent his retirement at the Stevens family ranch in Camp Verde, enjoying his hobbies and riding around the property with his faithful dog Willow at his side. James was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Center Point, Texas. James was blessed with a wealth of love, patience, kindness and understanding and will be deeply missed.
