James Robert (Bob) Thomas, 87 of Kerrville passed away on March 16, 2016 in Kerrville. He was born in Stockdale, TX on March 15, 1929. He married Joan Marion Thomas on December 18, 1993 in Kerrville.\r\n He went to school in Pearsall, TX and graduated in 1948. His first job out of high school was with a construction crew building Town Creek bridge located by Gibson's. He also worked at City Radio and Electric Service. He owned and operated the Electrical Service Center with his partner, Mac McDougall for many years. He founded Thomas Electric in 1970, selling that business to his son in the 1980's who still operates that company with his son, the company having been operated by 3 generations of the Thomas family. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was very involved in the Lions Club. He served as president, received the outstanding service award and Lion of the year award among other honors. He was also very active at Country Community Church, serving as youth leader, elder, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and the candy man for all the children. He was well loved by all.\r\n Bob is preceded in death by his father, Jim Thomas, mother, Amy Thomas, one brother, Clarence Thomas, and four sisters, Alene Stewart, Evelyn Holden, Iva Lea Holcomb and Pauline Posik.\r\n Bob is survived by wife, Joan Thomas; brother, Raymond Thomas; children, Bobby Thomas and wife, Kay, Candy Kane and husband, Wade, Scott Harris, Bobby Harris and wife, Laurie, Lori Appleton and husband, David, Jennifer Wilson & husband, Adam. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shelley Gholson & husband, Jay, Candice Kane, Cody Thomas & wife, Stephanie , Dillon Kane; great grandchildren, Lathe Gholson, Gracie & Audry Thomas, Amber Harris, Adaire Appleton, Hannah & Cade Wilson.\r\n Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.\r\n Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Calvary Temple Church with Pastor Del Way officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories.\r\n Pallbearers will be Cody Thomas, Dillon Kane, Jay Gholson, Bobby Harris, Rex Thomas and Chad Mills.\r\n Memorial remembrances may be made to the Texas Lions Camp or the Kerrville Host Lions Club.
