Jeannine “Jimmie” Stucky Maxwell, 91, of Pipe Creek, Texas, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 20, 2026, in Boerne, Texas.

Jeannine was born on January 5, 1935, in Boise, Idaho, to Jean David Stucky and Allene Murainne Stucky. Her family moved to Spokane, Washington, soon afterward, and she grew up in the Pacific Northwest.

She attended Washington State College, where she met her future husband, John C. Maxwell. They married on June 6, 1954, and shared 60 years of marriage, traveling the world, raising their family, and embracing many adventures together.

As an Army wife for 28 years, Jeannine created a home for her family wherever the Army took them, including the Philippines, Japan, Italy, Florida, Virginia, and Texas. She approached each new assignment with curiosity and enthusiasm, taking time to learn about the local culture and becoming involved in cross-cultural activities and events.

Jeannine was an avid swimmer and scuba diver. She volunteered with the American Red Cross, teaching swimming to children with physical and developmental disabilities. She and John also spent many years exploring the underwater world together, scuba diving in the Philippines, Japan, Okinawa, and the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Italy.

After retiring to the Texas Hill Country, Jeannine continued to pursue her interests and contribute to her community. Through her involvement with the San Antonio Stewards Club, she helped train working dogs and supported area dog shows. She was also a determined gardener of native plants, constantly stopping along the roadside to bring home the perfect fern or cactus.

She will be remembered for the full and fascinating life she lived and for the many lives she touched along the way.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John C. Maxwell.

Jeannine is survived by her son, Jean C. Maxwell of Comfort, Texas; her daughter, Darra Maxwell of Silver Spring, Maryland; and her two grandchildren, Anthony Maxwell and Antonio Maxwell.
