Jerrel Duan "Skipper" Crider, died peacefully in his home in Hutto, Texas on Friday, September 15th, 2017 surrounded by his family. \r\n \r\nJerrel is survived by his wife of 40 years Billie Ruth Crider and children, Wendy and Todd Layton from Medina, Amanda and Mike Lanahan from Hutto, and Skip and Tiffany Crider from Seagoville. As well as two grandchildren, Dawson (Cade) Crider and Gaven Lanahan.\r\n \r\nHe is preceded in death by his parents Wylie T. and Juanita Crider, sister Syretta Crider, paternal grandparents James and Agnes Crider and maternal grandparents Roger and Alice Colbath.\r\n \r\nJerrel was born on July 23rd, 1947 in Kerrville, Texas to Wylie T. and Juanita Crider. He graduated High School from Tivy in 1966 and later from Texas A&I University of Kingsville with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts and Teachers Certificate. Jerrel served in the United States Air Force as a technical illustrator. He later married Billie Ruth Dean on February 18th, 1977 in Venus, Texas. During his professional career he worked for various Fortune 500 companies throughout Texas. Later in life, Jerrel taught graphic art and design in Texas. \r\n \r\nAfter retiring from teaching, Jerrel pursued his true ambitions of Intaglio Printmaking where he conceptualized and began the Historical Cloud Series. This series consisted of art that portrayed historical events and the historical figures behind it. In December 2016, Jerrel donated a framed print depicting the confrontation between Sam Bass and A.W. Grimes to the Williamson County Sheriff's Department. He was an active and dedicated member of the Tree of Life Church in Pflugerville. Jerrel will be missed by his family, friends and many more people that he touched through his humor, historical facts and "fantastic" story telling. \r\n \r\nVisitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville, Texas.\r\n \r\nHis life will be honored on Monday, September 18, 2017, 10 AM at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Pastor Joseph Fegenbush. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Mountain Home, Texas with Air Force honors. \r\n
