Jessie A. Fuger

Jessie Ann (“Jan”) Fuger, age 75, of Pipe Creek, TX, died Monday, September 5, 2023, at her home.  She was born October 14, 1947.

She is survived by three siblings: Susan Fuger of Villa Park, IL, Jay (Alberta) Fuger of Streamwood, IL and Terry (Jeanne) Fuger of Dixon, IL; a niece, Emily Fuger of Lawrence, KS; nephews: Terry (Amanda) Fuger of Dixon, IL, Matthew (Priscilla) Fuger of San Antonio, TX, and Martin (Sarah) Fuger of Woodridge, IL; great-nieces: Autumn and Lily Fuger of San Antonio, TX; and great-nephews: Andrew and Daniel Fuger of San Antonio, TX.  She is also survived by her beloved dog, Bear. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Wini (nee Hannon) Fuger.

Jan grew up in Oakbrook Terrace, IL and was a 1965 graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary High School.  After high school she worked at Flick-Reedy Corporation for a number of years before returning to school to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse.  She obtained her nursing degree from College of DuPage in 1987.  After graduation she worked at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago and then became a travel nurse and left the Chicago winters behind to work in hospitals in several southern states, including Florida, Louisiana and Texas.  She loved Texas and decided to make it her home.

She became part of the Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church where she enjoyed a welcoming Christian community, church suppers, fellowship, friendship, and much kindness.  This community of friends greatly enriched her life.

She was interested in U.S. history, she liked to cook, she enjoyed traveling when she was younger, and she always loved a good joke. 

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7 at Pipe Creek Presbyterian Church, 8589 State Highway 16 South, Pipe Creek, TX, pastor Duane Manning officiating.
