John William Cundiff, Jr.

John W. Cundiff, Jr., age 89, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2026. He was born on June 24, 1936, in Hillsboro, Texas, to John and Inis Cundiff.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Inis Cundiff, and his brother, Charles Cundiff.

He is lovingly remembered by his longtime partner, Dolly; his son, Grady and family; his sister, Sharon; his nephews, Bubba and James; and his niece, Angela.

A memorial service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, on June 16, 2026, Shelter 5 beginning at 1:45pm.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to the staff of Cedar Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bandera, Texas, as well as AIP Hospice, for the care and compassion they provided.

John will be remembered for his unique way of saying farewell—he never said “goodbye,” but instead simply said, “Later.” So, until later, John, you will be dearly missed.
