Kevin Sloan, age 50, passed away on October 20, 2021, in Lakehills, Texas after a long illness. He was born in Houston on May 22, 1971, to Don and Sharon Sloan.
Kevin was raised in El Lago, Texas in the Seabrook, Clear Lake area and attended school in the Clear Creek I.S.D. He graduated from Clear Lake High School and attended the University of Houston for 3 years before locating to Bandera County to be closer to his family. Kevin worked as a health care assistant for severely disabled people as well as a vet tech at a veterinary clinic. He also worked in property renovation and maintenance.
Kevin was a joyous child who loved participating in and following all sports. He was a University of Houston Cougar fan from a young age attending games with his parents and participated in the Cougar Cubs program. He spent many hours on Medina Lake starting to waterski at 6 years old. He enjoyed traveling and learned to snorkel in Grand Cayman at 5 years old. He loved all water sports and was a certified open water scuba diver. He never met a dog he didn’t love and always adopted dogs in need of a good home.
He is survived by his parents Don and Sharon Edens Sloan; his sister Sheridan Sloan, DVM (Wayne Hinkley), his nephew Bryce Hinkley (Angie Ruiz), his step Grandmother Jan Edens, his Aunt Brenda Edens Mathews (Tommy Mathews) and close cousin Murray Edens Smith (Arlina Juarez Smith) and their daughter Abigail Smith and cousin Stephanie Peters, DVM (Kevin Peters), Aunt Lucy Edens, DVM (Lee Young, DVM) cousins Ethan, Amelia, Luke and Zane Young, cousin Yvonne Harper Wilkins (Jody Wilkins) and cousin Dawn Goldstein Kelley(Jeremy Kelley). He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank Floyd and Lougene Sloan of Corpus Christi, Aunt Floydene Sloan Harper of Denton, Grandmother Lucille Edens Morgan of Bandera and San Antonio, Grandfather H.L. “Butch” Edens of Corpus Christi, and Aunt Diane Harper Goldstein of Denton.
