Lois Ray Davis McGarity

Lois McGarity, 88, of Medina, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was born in Bexar County to Andrew J. Davis and Lottie J. Davis on June 25, 1937. She was married for 65 years to the love of her life, Thomas (Bill) McGarity, on January 30, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas.

Lois graduated from Somerset High School in 1955 and moved to the “big city” of San Antonio and secured her first job with USAA. She then moved to San Antonio Savings & Loan, working in the banking industry for the rest of her career. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Along with Bill, she served on the mission field in Mexico and as a pastor’s wife in New Mexico and Texas.

Lois is preceded in death by sisters Viola Reaves, Dora Lahr, Winkie Walker, Gail Olivarez, Nona Jonas, and brothers, Andrew Davis and Norman Davis.

Lois is survived by her husband Bill, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and sister Joyce Mallery.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 4, at Medina Community Church in Medina, Texas, with Bill Ragsdale and Bill Stegemueller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bandera Funeral Chapel.
