Louis Albert Cothran, Jr., 76, of Pipe Creek, Texas passed away on October 8th, 2026. He was born in Huntsville, Texas to Louis Albert Cothran and Ina Pearl Cothran (Swift) on October 28th, 1949. He was married to Joanna Cothran on August 29th, 1984, in San Antonio, Texas.
He graduated from Texas A&M Consolidated High School and completed his Associates of Applied Science in Drafting Engineering at Alvin Community College. He spent 37 years as a truck driver for Continental Floral Greens, Parkway, and Reynolds Nationwide. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War from 1967-1970 and served in the Marines. He received numerous awards during his career in the trucking industry.
He was incredibly proud of his sons and grandchildren. He was so much more than the battle he fought in these last months. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a man whose life was made up of so many moments, memories, and relationships that cancer could never take away.
Louis is preceded in death by his dad, mom, brother - Clay, sister - Carol, and son, James. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joanna; children - Jr Faulkner and his wife, Tori and Eric Cothran and his wife Alyssa; and four beloved grandchildren: Halston, Steele, Hayes, and Carson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th at 12:00pm at Bandera Community Church. Funeral services will be held directly following the visitation at 1:00pm at Bandera Community Church with Nick Manfred officiating. Burial will follow at Pipe Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Halston Faulkner, Steele Faulkner, Hayes Faulkner, Carson Cothran, Jayson Mitchell, Edward Mitchell, Matthew Kincaid, and Richard Spikes.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Nick Manfred, Nurse David with Vitas Hospice, and Nurse Virginia with Home Health Care for the time and care they spent with Louis in his final weeks.
