Margaret E Whitehead Callahan, age 99, of Bandera, Texas passed away on July 20,2021, in Bandera, Texas. She was born in Medina, Texas to Roy Marcus and Jewel Jane Whitehead on July 3,1922. She married Daniel C Callahan on November 28,1940, at her aunt's home in San Antonio, Texas. Margaret and Dan made their home in Bandera, Texas She worked at the City of Bandera Water Department for 45 years as the City Secretary. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bandera, the Eastern Stars, served as a Board Member for the Bandera Electric Coop, and involved in several club organizations in Bandera, one of which was the Bandera Quilt Guild. Her joy was making beautiful quilts for family and friends. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Callahan, two brothers, Carol Whitehead and Leo Whitehead, and one sister, Bernice Henry. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann Smith and husband Ben, one grandson, Michael B Smith and wife Lisa of Spicewood, Texas and one great-grandson, Daniel B Smith of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by two brothers, Dayton Whitehead of Medina, Texas and George H Loessberg of La Marque, Texas and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera, Texas with minister Louis Ray Melton of the Church of Christ of Brackettville, Texas officiating. Burial will follow at the Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Whitehead, Randy Whitehead, Robert Whitehead, Chuck Whitehead, Jake Whitehead and Daniel Smith. Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Smith. The family of Margaret wishes to extend our sincere thanks to her many friends that were such wonderful helpers to Margaret in her later years, especially Bob and Carol Preston.
