Marilyn Jean Mosell Powell went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 15, 2025, in Pipe Creek, TX surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was born in Streator, IL in 1938 to Edward and Mona Nadine (Davis) Mosell. She was the youngest of 5 children.
She attended high school in Corpus Christi, TX and La Pryor, TX, where she graduated in 1956.
Marilyn met the love of her life, Leon Powell, in La Pryor, and they got married in September of 1956. In 1963 Marilyn and her growing family moved to San Marcos where they raised six amazing and rowdy sons: Ricky, Randy, Robby, Ronny, Ray and Russell.
They celebrated her 87th birthday and their 69th wedding anniversary just a few weeks ago. Marilyn was an artistic, caring, and fun-loving lady. She lived her life in honor of her Creator and gave without hesitation. She had a beautiful smile and a lovely voice. In addition to being a homemaker, lovingly caring for her family, Marilyn had many other gifts and talents. From oil painting, pottery and sculpting to woodworking and sewing and quilting, Marilyn excelled in everything she did. While being an amazing wife, mother, artist, and crafter, she also ran a home daycare where the children she took care of became family. She also found the time to become a Master Naturalist, which demonstrated her love of nature and the outdoors.
Marilyn leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her husband, Leon, four of her sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Maria, Robby and Maria, Ronny, Russell and Jennifer, and Darla, her 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren who loved her very much. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who will always carry her memory in their hearts.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nadine Mosell, her two sisters, Roma Matthewman and Mona McAfee, her two brothers, Oris Mosell and Richard Mosell, and two of her sons, Ricky Powell and Ray Powell.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. followed by a funeral service honoring Marilyn’s life, officiated by her son, Minister Robby Powell, and Pastor David Ruark of Christ Chapel in Bandera, will be at 11:00 A.M. at Bandera Funeral Chapel, 1214 Mulberry St., Bandera TX 78003.
