Mark Sanford

Our loving husband and father, Mark Maston Sanford of Comfort, Texas passed from this life and went to live with our Lord on March 16, 2021 in Kerrville, Texas. He was 78 years old, having been born to Jack Russell Sanford and Hulda Kay Aigner Sanford on December 19, 1942 in Sinton, Texas. Survivors include wife, Norma Jean Dolnik Sanford, whom he married on December 7, 1967 in Rosenberg, Texas. Siblings include one sister, Sharon Johse of Franklin, Texas along with four children, and one brother, Daniel Sanford of Palestine, Texas with three children. Children include Dawn Rene' Sanford Coyle of Boerne, Texas with three children, Maston Russell Sanford of San Antonio, Texas with four children, and Zachary Armstrong Sanford of San Antonio, Texas as well as one son from a previous marriage, David Andrew Sanford Sowell of Houston, Texas with two children. Included are six Grandchildren, two great Grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. Mark was a very outspoken man who lived his life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by family and friends and was a special person to all that knew him. He had many interests throughout his life which included obtaining his Private Pilot's License, flying his own airplane, fishing, hunting, camping, woodworking and travelling the back roads of Texas and throughout various states. He even had his special "Picante" recipe included in the Texas Country Reporters Cookbook. College was accomplished late in his life with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas in 1998; graduating Summa Cum Laude, Mark was also a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa and on the Dean's List of accomplished scholars. His life and career took him on various paths and challenges - joining the U.S. Coastguard in 1961, being honorably discharged, and ending with retirement from the Texas Department of Transportation as a Right-of-Way Agent in 2008. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
