Melody Chipman

January 31, 1961 — June 18, 2020

Melody Lanice Chipman was born in Kerrville, TX on January 3rd, 1961. She went home to our Lord on June 18th, 2020.\r\n\r\nMelody graduated from Tivy High School in 1979.\r\n\r\nMelody had 2 sons - Aaron Thomas Chipman born December, 12th 1984 and Kevin James Chipman born October, 5th 1986.\r\n\r\nMelody worked at Herring Printing Company for over 30 years. She started working there in 1978. She left Herring in 2008 to stay at home and be a full time attendant to her oldest son Aaron, who had duchenne muscular dystrophy. After Aaron passed away in September of 2013, she became a full time nanny. First with her only 2 grandchildren, Riley James Chipman and Carter Jay Chipman. In 2014 she was blessed with the opportunity to become a nanny to a three month old baby girl Harper Toothman and continued to be her nanny until her death. Melody considered Harper to be her granddaughter. Melody loved being a nanny. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her real passion was being a caretaker, starting with her son Aaron and continuing with her grandchildren.\r\n\r\nMelody also worked part time at Wildgoose Manufacturing on and off for many years side by side with her sisters Nancy and Andrea Taylor. \r\n\r\nMelody loved her family, she was one of 11 children. She enjoyed spending time with them too especially her sisters who would get together often. Thursday and Saturdays were reserved for her sister Nancy. The two of them would leave work and hit the town. On Thursdays they would go shopping and looking around. They would have dinner at Schlotzsky's and share a sandwich. On Saturdays they would go shopping at thrift stores. Melody also loved planning parties for her family. She helped come up with different themes and would really go all out decorating and making sure everyone had a good time. She enjoyed seeing other's happy and made it her mission to see that happen.\r\n\r\nMelody loved arts and crafts. Her room was full of containers containing hot glue sticks, stickers, cardstock, ribbon, paint, and sewing materials. She also collected Teddy Bears for years and years and years. \r\n\r\nMelody lived with her son Kevin Chipman and wife Amanda. Although we are sure she felt like we were taking care of her she took care of us. She made every holiday special for us and also spoiled the family dog Gizmo by buying him a stocking at Christmas and made sure he got a present every year. She felt comfortable in the neighborhood she lived in and enjoyed walking every evening. Not even the occasional rain shower would stop her from walking, she would just be prepared with her raincoat and umbrella. Some weekends she walked twice a day. Even on the coldest of days she would bundle up with gloves, hat and a coat. \r\n\r\nMelody was a member of the Riverside Church of Christ and always sat with her friend and cousin Kay Giles. She enjoyed having scheduled lunches with her sisters in Christ and I'm sure would order the same thing she always did which was chicken fried chicken depending on the restaurant. \r\n\r\nMelody is preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Dora (Janice) Taylor, her two brothers, Zachery Taylor and David Taylor, and her son Aaron Chipman. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her son Kevin Chipman (wife Amanda) and his children Riley and Carter, her sisters Wanda Brothers, Esther Gonzales (husband Pete), June Balagia, Sharon Strand, Nancy Taylor, Ruth Rawlins (husband Steve), Andrea Taylor, brother Tollie Taylor (wife Beth) and sister-in-law Karen Taylor.\r\n\r\nMemorial services will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Mr. Kevin Kasparek. Burial will be held privately.\r\n
