Rebecca Jo Kern

Rebecca Jo Spear Kern, 68, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on Sunday, 18 May 2025, in Bandera. She was born in San Antonio to Winston and Lynn Spear on 7 July 1956. She married Gary Kern on 19 July 1975.

Becky graduated salutatorian from Highlands High School in San Antonio in 1974. She then attended Baylor University for one year before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin following her wedding where she graduated with high honors in zoology. Her post-graduate training in medical technology was at the Texas State Hospital in Austin. She worked as a med tech specializing in microbiology in the lab of the Katy Memorial Hospital for 30 years.

Becky always loved gardening, eventually becoming a Harris County Master Gardener for many years. Her garden and greenhouse in Bandera were her pride and joy, where she spent as much time as possible.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband Gary, daughters; Heather Golson and Sarah Cantwell, brother; Andrew Spear, and grandchildren; Ryleigh and Macie Cantwell, and Archer, Wyatt, and Case Golson.

A memorial will be held on a yet-to-be-determined date.
