Revis Leon Powell went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 18, 2026, in Pipe Creek, TX.
Leon was born in Stanton, TX in 1937 to George and Zelma Powell. He was the oldest of 5 children.
He attended high school in Stanton, where he played football. He graduated in 1955 and moved to La Pryor, Tx, where he met and fell in love with his wife of 69 years, Marilyn. They got married in September of 1956. Leon attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, TX.
In 1963 Leon and Marilyn, and their growing family moved to San Marcos where they raised six wonderful sons: Ricky, Randy, Robby, Ronny, Ray and Russell.
Leon and Marilyn celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary last September.
Leon was a hardworking man, running his independent Borden’s Dairy distribution company for over 40 years. He was a Godly man, dedicating his life to serving others in God’s name.
While raising his six sons, he also guided and led many other boys and young men through his ministry and example. He was a deacon in the churches he joined, and he helped start new churches.
Leon leaves behind a loving family of four of his sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Maria, Robby and Maria, Ronny, Russell and Jennifer, and Darla, 15 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Calvin Powell, and numerous nieces and nephews who will always carry his memory in their hearts.
Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his parents, George and Zelma Powell, his sister, Marie Bailey, two brothers, Eugene Powell and Richard Powell, and two of his sons, Ricky Powell and Ray Powell.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11am followed by a funeral service honoring Leon’s life, officiated by Pastor David Ruark of Christ Chapel in Bandera, at 12:00 pm at Bandera Funeral Chapel, 1214 Mulberry St., Bandera TX 78003.
Burial will follow at Pipe Creek Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Bandera Funeral Chapel for assisting with funeral arrangements.
And extends special thanks to Tina Gross and the team at Alamo Hospice of Kerrville, Texas, who went above and beyond in providing excellent care and compassion in a very difficult time of our lives.
