Sadie Oleane Walker Barrett of Harper, Texas, passed away on September 10, 2014, at River Hills Health and Rehab in Kerrville, Texas. She was born on the Walker Ranch, Kerr County, Texas, in the Reservation Community on August 6, 1927 to Olin and Reseda Walker.\r\n\r\nOleane attended Reservation Primary School and graduated from Harper High School. She was awarded a full scholarship for Journalism at Mary Hardin Baylor University but she chose to stay home and be close to family.\r\n\r\nShe married Milton Wayne Barrett on April 10, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas. They met in Kerrville and fell in love. Together, they built a successful business, Wayne Barrett Electric Company in San Antonio and ranched in Harper. Their union produced four children; a son, Olin, and three daughters, Karen, Anna and Elizabeth.\r\n\r\nOleane loved to travel, especially with her family. One of her last long trips was with her brothers and sister to the New Hampshire area. She cherished this special time that they shared together. She was also an avid Genealogist. Oleane spent hours researching information and traveling to various states to document family history. What Oleane loved the most was having her family around her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and daughter. There are no words to describe what our life will be like without her here with us or how much she will be missed.\r\n\r\nShe is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Wayne Barrett, with whom she remained close friends with; her parents, Olin Bryan Walker and Reseda Anna Bode Walker, and her sister, Bonnie Lea Walker Rahe.\r\n\r\nOleane is survived by her children: son, Olin Wayne Barrett and wife, Joan; daughters, Karen Barrett Craig, Anna Barrett Gallagher and husband Fredrick, Elizabeth Barrett Cover and husband Robert, Trish Dietrich Lowe and Jamie Wallace who she loved and became additional daughters,. Grandchildren: Lisa Barrett, Jason Barrett and wife, Shavawn, Ryan Craig, Alex Craig, Sean Craig, Michelle Gray and husband, Collin, Allison Bueche' and husband, Abram, Caitlin Cover, Bryan Cover and Shannon Cover. Great Grandchildren: Noah Safstrom, Amber Barrett, Case Barrett, Cash Barrett, Aiden Johnson. Great-great Grandchild: Layne Scarberry. Brothers: Dr. James Carroll Walker and wife, Margie and Howard Wayne Walker and wife, Mary. Sister: Josephine Walker Rieger. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who love her.\r\n\r\nVisitation will be Friday, September 12, 2014, 5:00 - 7:00 PM, at Grimes Funeral Chapel, Kerrville.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Grimes Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Allen of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Harper Community Cemetery in Harper, Texas.\r\n\r\nPallbearers will be her grandsons: Jason Barrett, Ryan Craig, Alex Craig, Bryan Cover, Collin Gray and Abram Bueche'. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandson, Sean Craig and her nephews, J.B. Rieger, Neal Rieger, Robbie Walker and Rick Walker.\r\n\r\nMemorials may be given to Harper Volunteer Fire Department.\r\n\r\nThe family would like to thank Dr. Parks, Neuro PICU at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio for his care of our mother. River Hills Health and Rehab staff in Kerrville, with particular thanks to Administrator, Paul Chaisson, Nurses: Tiffany, John, Kelly, Joyce; Aides: Jennifer, Mary Ann and Frances.
