Sharon B. Hillmeyer, Age 74, of Bandera, Texas, passed away on March 3, 2026, in Bandera, Texas. Sharon was born in Andalusia, Alabama to MR and Mrs. Creston and Marie Barrow on Mar 14, 1951. She married Jerry "Red" Hillmeyer on June 30, 1974, at her parents' home near Baker, Florida.
Sharon started school at the old Escambia Farms School House until it closed and then transferred to Baker School (K-12), where she graduated in 1969. She then went to Okaloosa-Walton Junior College near Niceville, FL, for two years and transferred to the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL, where she graduated in 1973 with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education. After that, she taught Health and P.E. for two years at the Laurel Hill School (K-12) where there were only 400 students in the whole school. In 1975, Sharon and Red moved to San Antonio, Texas and she worked at the USAA Insurance Company as a policy service representative and then as a staff underwriter for 37 years until she retired in 2014. At Baker High School, Sharon became the class Salutatorian, the Head Cheer Leader, and the Home Coming Queen. At USAA, Sharon earned the Certification for CPCU, the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriting after she complete all of the courses. She also earned her MBA at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. For more than eight years Sharon also volunteered for USAA's Mentor Program for students, so she helped many young girls who needed a good role model.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Creston and Marie Barrow, her grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Barrow, her sister, Mrs. Patsy Ann McDonald, and her sister-in-law Mrs. Jennifer K. Simpson.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Jerry Hillmeyer, her brother Doyle Barrow and his wife, Cheryl, her brothers-in-law Joe McDonald and Jeff Hillmeyer, a sister-in-law Janet Spagnoletti, and her sister Linette Jerkins and husband, Jack. Sharon is also survived by her nieces Toni Marie LaFear and her husband Rob, Luci Brown and her husband Chiaki, her nephews Nathan Barrow and his wife, Courtney, and Luke Simpson and his wife, Kimberly.
A memorial service is pending at this time.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Bandera Funeral Chapel.
