Starts at 5:30 pm (Central time)
Stanley Reed Scruby III, 48, of Bandera passed away on June 10, 2026, at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Reed was born on March 27, 1978, in Humble, Texas to Linda “Davis” Scruby and Stanley Reed Scruby II. He graduated from Bandera High School in 1996 and later attended Southwest Texas State University. He attended for about one semester before receiving a zero on a calculus paper, despite having every answer correct, because he did not write the assignment in paragraph form. Reed told his professor to “shove it” and returned to Bandera, where he began his career in the water well business.
Reed remained in the water well business for the rest of his life. He owned, operated and drilled for Aquatec Drilling & Service as well as Waterboyz Drilling and Service. Following his untimely passing the business continues to be owned and operated by his wife. Throughout his career, Reed provided water and related services to his community and surrounding areas for 30 years, a professional at which he excelled.
Reed loved surrounding himself with family and friends. Some of his favorite pastimes included spending time at the lake, boating, hunting, fishing and golfing. He was happiest when enjoying the outdoors and making memories with those he loved.
On September 5, 2015, Reed married Tomeika Brown-Scruby, whom he often referred to as “the love of his life.”
Reed was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Reed Scruby II, who owned and operated Bandera Downs; his mother, Linda “Davis” Scruby; and his cherished grandmother, Helen Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Tomeika Brown-Scruby; his stepsons, Rayven Brown, Taylor Brown, and Kayden Brown; his daughter, Taylor Scruby; his sister, Karen Scruby-Monzon and brother-in-law, Jairo Monzon.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 27, 2026, at 5:30pm at Ridin the River Cowboy Fellowship Church. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring and celebrating Reed’s life and legacy.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bandera Funeral Chapel.
