Vera Nichols

Veronica Peysen Nichols, of Bandera Texas, peacefully passed away on March 30th, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was born in Scotland Texas on September 12th, 1926 to John & Elizabeth Peysen. She married Donald O, "Nick" Nichols on July 14th, 1952 in Archer County Texas.\r\n\r\nVera went to school in Scotland, Texas. After marrying Nick, she traveled the world with him as an Air Force couple serving our great country. They lived, during his service, in Texas, Nebraska, Morocco, South Dakota, Philippines, & Indiana. Vera worked at St. Joseph hospital for over 25 years as a Pharmacy Technician. Upon their retirement they searched the great state of Texas for their final home before choosing Bandera Texas, the Cowboy Capital of the World. Both Vera & Nick loved the people of Bandera & The Hill Country of Texas.\r\n\r\nVera was a devout Catholic & vital member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera where she was active in the St, Vincent DePaul Society with her good friends Mary Smith & Olga Bolduck She also participated in the Altar Society and every Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. observed a holy hour with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration at St. Stanislaus. She loved and was loved by many wonderful parishioners. Vera was blessed to be served by Father Pat, Father Stan, Father John & Deacon Bobby over the last 22 years.\r\n\r\nVera is preceded in death by her 13 brothers and sisters.\r\n\r\nVera is survived by D.O. "Nick" Nichols, her husband; her daughter Karen Folkerts & Tom, her son Larry "Will" Nichols & Connie; her grandchildren, Nichelle Renk & Travis, Jessica Higgins & Garth, Amy Zimney & Eric, Sara Chiabai & Jay, Veronica Catherine Macbeth & Ryan, Jacob Folkerts & Kimberly, Clayton Folkerts; her great-grand children Cassidy Folkerts, Jackson Macbeth, Phoenix Macbeth, Cole Higgins, Charlotte Renk, Ethan Chiabai, Wesley Macbeth, Luke Higgins…all of whom Vera prayed for dailey.\r\n\r\nA visitation was held Sunday, April 3rd from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera and a rosary followed led by Deacon Peter Gutierrez of the San Antonio Archdiocese.\r\n\r\nVera's funeral service will be held at Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church in Bandera, Texas on Monday, April 4th at 10:00 a.m. with Deacon Peter Gutierrez presiding. Interment will follow at the Saint Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.\r\n\r\nVera's pallbearers were Charles Grant, John Presley, Bobby McMillan, Tom Folkerts, Jacob Folkerts & Larry "Will" Nichols.\r\n\r\nThe Nichols family wishes to extend their thanks & gratitude to all of the health care professionals who provided excellent care to Vera in her last days, including the Doctors, Nurses, and Technicians of Peterson Regional Medical and the wonderfully caring Peterson Hospice Professionals.\r\n\r\nOur wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and parishioner served us in life, may we serve our family and friends as faithfully as she did us.\r\n\r\n
