Vernon Sidney Faris was born April 12, 1926 in Bandera, TX to Manuel and Beulah Faris. He went to be with our Lord on June 10, 2020 at 94 years, 1 month and 28 days. He was a lifelong resident of Bandera County except for the time he served in the U.S. Army stationed in the Asian Theater. He also worked in Bexar County for a brief time before returning to Bandera in 1958. He then moved to his hometown of Medina in 1959 serving and residing on the Cripple Creek Ranch for seven years and on the Rock Chimney Ranch for 37 years until his retirement living the remainder of his life north of Medina. \r\n\r\nVernon was a rancher deeply involved with the production of sheep, goats, cattle, and horses. He was very successful in producing prize winning lambs and goats for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His real passion was training horses and a favorite pastime was riding, as evidenced by his last ride at the age of 91. His love of horses was exceeded only by his love of his family. \r\n\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Mary, one sister Maedell Carpenter, four brothers BJ, Claude, Ernest, Ned; two sisters-in-law Jean Faris and Barbara Hand; and two brothers-in-law Denny Banta and Bud Hand. \r\n\r\nHe is survived by: son Preston (Kay) of Sonora; daughter Marilyn Bone (Bobby) of Spring Branch.
