Willard D.
D'Spain
Mar 17, 1935 — Dec 9, 2025
Bandera Cemetery, Bandera, Texas
2:00 - 3:00 pm (Central time)
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Willard Dayton D’Spain, age 90, of Bandera, TX. Willard slipped peacefully from this life on December 9, 2025, in Wilburton, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love he spent a lifetime giving to others.
Born on March 17, 1935, in London, Texas, to Otila (Pool) and Nimrod “Doc” D’Spain, Willard grew up with a kind and generous spirit that never left him. After high school he began a long career with an electrical supply company, where his warm smile and steady handshake made him a favorite among customers and colleagues alike.
Anyone who knew Willard quickly discovered his joys: the quiet thrill of a perfect drive down the fairway (he was a proud scratch golfer), the loyal companionship of animals he cherished, and the timeless camaraderie of time spent hunting with friends and family. His stories, his laughter, and his gentle way of making every person feel seen and valued will stay with us always.
Willard was a devoted husband, father aka “Big Daddy” grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather whose love reached across four generations. He is deeply missed and forever loved by:
• His sons, Patrick D’Spain and wife Denise of Talihina, and Terrence D’Spain of Bandera, Texas
• His grandchildren, Wendi Mead and husband Cliff, Patrick D’Spain Jr. and wife Kaitlyn, and Amber Brogdon and husband Philip
• His great-grandchildren, Christian Carter, Leif D’Spain, Jordan Malvern, Alex D’Spain, Emily D’Spain, and Evelyn Brogdon
• His great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Carter and Frances D’Spain
• As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who were truly family to him.
Waiting to welcome him home were his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat” D’Spain; his son, Timothy D’Spain; brothers Carel D’Spain, Kenneth D’Spain and sister Laverne Wharton; and his parents.
Rest easy, Willard. Your love remains in every heart you touched, and we are all better for having been loved.
Bandera funeral chapel of Bandera will conduct a graveside service at the Bandera cemetery on July 2nd, 2026, at 2:00pm.
